The lab conducts research on computing, communication, and information sciences and their direct application to a broad range of areas in biomedicine. We work on new computing methods, algorithms, and information systems to support various aspects of biomedical science.  Our mission is to develop innovative approaches and systems that facilitate biomedical research,  improve clinical care, and characterize health of populations. To date, we have conducted research in biomedical ontologies, clinical natural language processing (cNLP), clinical decision support, system interoperability, and public health informatics. Our latest endeavor (summer of 2017), is an exploration of quantum computing to solve computational challenges in health analytics.
